Australian star Mike Hussey blasted 116 not out from just 54 balls to guide his Indian Premier League side to a 33-run Twenty20 victory last night.
Batting at No3, Hussey clubbed nine sixes and eight fours to help the Chennai Super Kings to a commanding 5-240 from their 20 overs.
Australian Test and one-day team-mate Matthew Hayden hit 25 from 17 balls.
Queenslander James Hopes top scored with 71 for the Kings XI Punjab in their reply of 4-207.
Opening the innings, Hopes smashed 10 fours in his 33-ball knock.
Brett Lee took 1-35 from his four overs for the Punjab side.
Elsewhere, Shane Warne's debut as captain/coach of the Rajasthan Royals was far from smooth with the leg-spinning great's side thrashed by nine wickets by Glenn McGrath's Delhi Daredevils.
Warne made 14 from 13 balls in his side's mediocre total of 8-129 with Shane Watson making 21 from 15 and Darren Lehmann a disappointing one.
Fast bowling great McGrath took 1-21 from his four overs for the Daredevils.
The Delhi side made 1-132 in reply with Watson taking the only wicket and Warne taking 0-16 from two overs.
