The franchisee of the Hyderabad team of the
Indian Premier League was bought by the Deccan Chronicle for a price of $107 million. The owners of this
team were one of the most aggressive bidders when the
players were being auctioned by the IPL. J Krishnan is the CEO of the team whereas Robin Singh will coach the Hyderabad side.
VVS Laxman who is a Hyderabad local was first hired as the Icon player of the team and will also captain the side in the league. However to be able to buy more players of high name, it was required by Laxman to give away his Icon player status which he happily did.
Many players of world fame were acquired by the franchisee owners for which they paid high prices too. Andrew Symonds was the second highest paid player in the IPL auction and was bought for a whopping $1,350,000. Other players in the team are great batsmen and excellent bowlers which include Adam Gilchrist, Shahid Afridi, Scott Styris and Herschelle Gibbs, R.P. Singh, Nuwan Zoysa and Chaminda Vaas etc. Other players are Rohit Sharma, Chamara Silva, Pragyan Ojha, Arjun Yadav, Venugopal Rao, N Sarveesh Kumar, etc.
