Representing the Chennai franchisee for the
Indian Premier League is the Chennai Super Kings team. The franchisee rights for this team have been bought for the next ten years by the India Cements Group and N Srinivasan by paying $91 million. This team has the symbol of a lion which represents the king of the jungle which goes really well with the name of the team. V. B. Chandrasekhar is the chief selector for the team and Kris Srikkanth is the brand ambassador. Kepler Wessels is the head coach of the team.
This
team managed to grab two of the A-rated players for the league who are MS Dhoni and Muttiah Muralitharan. There is no icon player for the team which helped the owners with the task of getting good players without paying any extra amounts to “icons”. In spite of this, MS Dhoni managed to get the highest price in the auction which was US$ 1,500,000.
Other players secured by the team owners in the auctions are Mathew Hayden, Jacob Oram, Stephen Fleming, Parthiv Patel, Joginder Sharma, Michael Hussey etc. The other players will be taken up from the catchment areas allotted which are Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Railways.
