Win for Kings XI, Deccan display positive performance

May 23
Place : Mohali

It was a display of some good batting skills by both the teams, the Kings XI Punjab and the Deccan Chargers. The latter team is already out of the semi-finals but in no way it seemed that they will give the match easily to the opponents. The Kings XI Punjab got the victory by 6 wickets with 3 balls remaining.

On display was some good batting today from the Deccan Chargers. Gilchrist and Gibbs opened the game with Deccan batting first. “Gilly” scored 50 runs off 42 balls whereas Gibbs managed a good 44 runs off 34 balls. The start to the team score was good by these openers and the next man, Sharma also gave a fifty runs to the team off just 27 balls. Rao today was able to make only 2 runs whereas Silva managed 23 and was unbeaten when the innings concluded.

The Kings XI Punjab however managed a better opening than their opponents. Marsh and Sangakkara laid the foundation for a very sound innings. Marsh made a 46-ball 60 runs whereas the latter got in 50 runs off 25 balls. Other players who came on the field were juts trying to hover around the runs got by the openers. The team scored the target of 176 runs with 6 wickets and 3 balls still remaining. Marsh was awarded the man of the match for his batting performance. The batting of the openers got thematch for the Kings team. However, the failure of the middle order which includes Yuvraj Singh should start bothering the team as it is high time now.
