The team of the Rajasthan Royals won a close match today against the Delhi Daredevils. The situation of the match could have changed with some extra effort and some luck and could have gone to the Delhi Daredevils. Nevertheless, the Rajasthan Royals won the match by three wickets with five balls still remaining with them.
The choice to field first was made by the Rajasthan Royals and that prompted the Delhi team to bat first. Gambhir and Sehwag opened strike for the team and stayed there for quite some time. Gambhir made 31 runs off 23 balls whereas Sehwag could gather 17 off 20. This lukewarm start from the batsmen loosened the grip of Delhi on the match. Small batting knocks could be seen from the batsmen here and there. The highest scorer in the match was Maharoof who made 39 runs off 16 balls. Villiers made 20 runs whereas the rest of the batsmen who scored moderately lay in the late-tens. The team scored a total of 156 runs which was not a great total to defend. It would surely require some efforts for the team to win.
The Royals team had an equally bad start with Pathan scoring 8 runs and Smith being dismissed with 7 runs. Kaif was also dismissed at 1 run. However, Watson came in at the right time to get some runs flowing in for the team. He scored 74 runs off 40 balls before he was run out. Other middle and lower order batsmen could not prove to be very useful and were just dragging the game it seemed. The team finished with chasing the target 5 balls before their overs were to be exhausted. Shane Watson was awarded the man of the match for his performance.
