This was one of those matches that a team would remember for very long after winning it. The Kolkata Tigers were simply elated with their great bowling piece from their comeback bowler in his first go. The Delhi Daredevils team was defeated hands on by 23 runs. Shoaib Akhtar was awarded the man of the match for his great bowling spell.
The Kolkata team did not do very well at the innings when they had to bat first. The team could not score very well and ended up with just a total of 133 runs. The Delhi bowlers had restricted the team with their powerful bowling. The highest scorer in the team was Salman Butt, the opener who scored 48 runs off 44 balls. Hussey scored 33 runs off 31 balls. Rest of the team disappointed and the chances of the team winning the match were petite.
Something else was, however in store for the Delhi team. The openers Gambhir and Sehwag fell badly to the attack of Akhtar, so did Ab de Villiers and Tiwary. The whole top order of the team crashed down and the team’s base had been shaken. Later down the order, it was Shukla who scored the highest runs with a score of 31 off 32 balls. Dilshan followed with 25 runs off 19 balls but this was the only worth mentioning score by a batsmen in the team. The team was all out in 17.5 overs and a score of just 110 runs could be made by the Delhi Daredevils team.
Shoaib Akhtar was awarded the man of the match for his great spell of 4 wickets in 3 overs by giving away just 11 runs. a superb comeback for the man, he was a sure source of elation for the whole city today.
