Rajasthan win high-scorer thriller against Chennai

May 24
Place : Chennai

This match today between the best-in-form team of Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings was a depiction of the best that both teams can offer. The match was a high scorer one which saw the making of 412 runs in all. But finally it was the Rajasthan Royals that won by 10 runs and got the edge in the match.

The Rajasthan Royals today went somewhat out of their tried and tested policy of fielding first. They took to batting and sent in Smith and Asnodkar for opening the match. The former opener Smith made a great 91 runs off 51 balls and set the game rolling along with Asnodkar who scored 41 runs. Also, Kamran Akmal helped Smith in the task of making runs and made 53 off 28 balls. The game of these three batsmen left less scope of any other batsmen playing and the team total was a good 211 runs. Morkel hauled two wickets against the Royals.

Patel and Fleming came in and opened the innings for the Chennai Superstars. Fleming however was dismissed very soon and made just 7 runs off 4 balls. Raina and Patel then started scoring and got 45 and 54 runs respectively for the team. After Raina was dismissed, it was Morkel who took responsibility and made 71 runs off 40 balls. The dismissal of Morkel by Tanvir was the turning point of the match when the Royals were seen to be relieved. The team went on to scoring a good 201 runs and gave a good fight to the team but in the end lost it by 10 runs. Albie Morkel was awarded the man of the match.
