May 24
Place : Chennai

With this match in Chennai, the Rajasthan Royals registered their tenth win as of now in the league matches of the IPL and continues to be the top-scorer team of the tournament. The Chennai team was defeated by only 10 runs even when the match was a high-scorer. Morkel was awarded the man of the match.

The chase of the team Chennai lacked the skill of opening that the opponents had showed. One of the openers, Fleming was dismissed at a score of just 7 runs. The other opener Parthiv Patel supported for a while and made 54 runs off 40 balls. It was Raina who played with the opener and made 45 runs off 24 balls to give some pace to the team run rate. Arriving after Raina’s dismissal, Morkel played a very good innings of 71 balls off 40 balls. Dhoni however could go no further than 12 runs. The team finished the 20 overs but was still 10 runs less than the target.

When the performance of the Rajasthan Royals is compared to the Chennai team, one can see that three batsmen mainly performed from their team. It were both the openers, Smith and Asnodkar and Kamran Akmal who got the runs for the team. Smith got 91 runs off 51 balls whereas Asnodkar scored 41 runs. Akmal too played a great innings by making a 28-ball 53 runs. Morkel performed well with the ball too by getting 2 wickets against the opponents. This all-round good performance from Morkel got him the man of the match today.
