Rain Plays Havoc on Delhi, Punjab Emerge Victorious

It was a very unlucky day today for the Delhi Daredevils with the way happenings unfolded in the match. The spectators who had come to watch the home team win and braved the weather conditions too left disappointed. By the D/L method, the Kings XI Punjab team was declared winners of the match. Mahela Jayawardene was awarded the man of the match for his very important batting knock.

The match saw a lot of surprises and shocks coming to the front in the field. But this was not by any player but the intervention of nature in the match. It started to rain when the Delhi team was in the middle of their batting innings. Before the match was stopped, the Delhi team had scored 88 runs in 8 overs at the loss of one wicket of Gautam Gambhir. He had scored 40 off 28 before his dismissal. Sehwag was unbeaten in the 11 overs that the match was reduced to and scored 51 runs. a total of 118 runs were scored by the team in the 11 overs played.

Kings XI started chasing the score but did not get a very good opening. The openers Marsh and Hopes both were dismissed by the end of the third over on a score of 2 and 4 respectively. Yuvraj Singh scored 23 runs before dismissal. It was Jayawardene and Pomersbach who were on the pitch and the game was through 8 overs when the rains started pelting down this time. Play was stopped and after thought, the match was declared in the favor of the Kings XI team by the D/L method. One over by Sehwag which got them 22 runs and the last six in the match were turning points in the match. The Delhi team still has not got its place in the semi-finals. Let us hope the best for them.
