A match which was a complete thriller and one could see nail-biting performance which was a typical see-saw in action. Finally, it was the Kings XI Punjab team that got the victory with their accurate bowling and immaculate targets which rocked the Mumbai team. They have now lower chances of getting to the semi-finals and their six match winning streak has ended here.
The Mumbai Indians chose to field first and it seems that they were not able to cope up with their own decision. Marsh and Hopes opened the game for Punjab team. Hopes was dismissed for a duck on the first ball where Marsh still played for long and made 81 runs off 56 deliveries. Along with him, it was Pomersbach who got the limelight with the constant run rate flowing for the team. He made 79 off 50 balls. The middle order however could not do any wonders and the score of 189 runs was set up mainly by these two batsmen.
Jayasuriya and Tendulkar opened the game for the Mumbai Indians. The former scored 20 runs whereas Sachin played his first good innings after he came to the team. He made 65 runs off 46 balls. Smith and Nayar could get runs in the twenties. The middle order fared even worse but somehow, a fair run rate was coming for the batsmen. When the team neared the end of the innings, there was still some hope when the final over approached. The last over saw a six, a four, and three run outs. The team was so confused that the runs were taken in mayhem and the match was lost by one run. The team should have kept their calm and victory would have been theirs.
Shaun Marsh was the man of the match for his good batting. Also, Yuvraj was not too happy with the one-sided support of the Mumbai crowd.
