The Mumbai Indians team got an achievement in the IPL which has not been done by any other team as of now. They got their sixth consecutive victory in the series and have now made a good 12 points in the last 6 matches. They had lost their first four ones and were also stuck in a controversy. Today they defeated the Deccan Chargers by 25 runs and Bravo was awarded the man of the match for his all round performance.
The Mumbai Indians batted first as wished by the Deccan Chargers who won the toss. The Mumbai Indians found this as an opportunity to show off their batting skills and their effort as a team. Most batsmen contributed to the total of 178 runs which was scored by the team. Jayasuriya scored 36 and Sachin made 23 runs which helped the team get a very good opening and the base of a good team score was built by these two players. Nayar showed off his footwork really well and scored 38 runs off 24 balls. Bravo too made 30 runs even when he came at number six. RP Singh got 3 wickets against the team whereas Afridi and Rao got two each.
The Deccan Chargers’ batting did not begin on a very good note. The top order of the team could not survive for long and the team was having 20 runs at the loss of 3 wickets before the fifth over ended. The situation seemed very tough for them that time onwards. Only Rao and Teji seemed to play for the team and made 57 and 37 runs respectively. This however was not enough to save the team from sinking and the match was lost to the Mumbai Indians by 25 runs. Bravo, in addition to his batting knock, also hauled 3 wickets for his team.
