After a series of three defeats in the last matches, the Delhi Daredevils team broke this string with this victory today over the Deccan Chargers by 12 runs. The man of the day was Amit Mishra who obtained 5 wickets in his spell of 4 overs. He gave away just 11 runs in the overs and 3 wickets came as a hat-trick in his last over which were very important in the victory.
The opening of the match was done by the Delhi Daredevils who batted first according to the choice of the Deccan Chargers. Gambhir and Sehwag opened strike but Sehwag was dismissed on duck without making any runs. Gautam however stuck to the field and got some good runs for his team along with his mate Dhawan. Gautam scored 79 runs and Dhawan contributed 68 to the team target which came out to be 194 runs.
This target seemed difficult for the Deccan Chargers initially. But as the game progressed, one could see them gaining good momentum and a good run rate was flowing with the top order playing a controlled but good game. Three batsmen scored runs in the thirties whereas two players scored runs in the twenties to get the runs flowing for the team. The lower order however disappointed the team and could not score the much-required runs for the victory. The last over required 15 runs which could have been scored very easily. But it was Mishra that struck at that time. After his initial intervention in the beginning and 2 wickets that he got, this time he got a hat-trick and the team could breathe easy with the victory in their hands now.
