







Playing the last match in this season of the Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders who although are out of the tournament, managed to break the winning momentum of the Kings XI Punjab team just before they are about to enter the knock-out method semi-finals. Umar Gul from the Kolkata was the man of the match for the day.
The Kings team won the toss and chose to bat first. From Marsh’s part, the opening was considerably good with his score of 40 runs off 31 balls. Hopes however could not establish him today and was dismissed on 13 runs. Sangakkara scored 64 runs off 45 balls and handled the situation well. After Marsh’s dismissal, a small game was played by Yuvraj Singh who scored 27 runs and was out on his mistake of a poor run. The team could make a score of 174 runs in the 20 overs. Umar Gul spoiled the game for the Kings team by dismissing 4 batsmen of their team.
Ganguly and Butt opened the game for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Butt was caught by Srivastava on a score of 24 runs. however the performance of the captain Ganguly is the one which deserves applause today. He survived the match from beginning to end and remained unbeaten on a score of 86 runs off 53 balls. The middle order of the team could not support him well and it as Gul again from the lower order who made 24 runs off 11 balls and the victory happened for the team. The performance of Ganguly was commendable. However, Umar Gul deserved recognition as man of the match today.
