This match was certainly one of the best for the
Mumbai Indians and one of the worst for the
Kolkata Knight Riders. The Knight Riders team made the lowest score in the IPL and the fifth lowest in all the T20 matches that have happened so far. The match saw the team crumbled easily at the hands of Mumbai Indians who have made a comeback in the tournament with some style. They won the match by 8 wickets and with 87 balls still remaining with them.
The toss was won by the Mumbai Indians who chose to field first and this decision really paid off for Sachin Tendulkar. He took the best possible advantage of the pitch conditions and used his seam bowlers very well. The team of the Kolkata Knight Riders was dismissed at just 67 runs when the start of the match was very normal just like every other match. No batsmen from the Kolkata Knight Riders team could score any good runs. In fact, the highest individual score made by 2 batsmen in the team was 15 runs. Skipper Ganguly had some hopes till the time he was on field but he did not get much chance to do this. He was stuck at the non-striker’s end for most of the time and witnessed the crashing of his team against the Mumbai Indians.
The game was however very easy for the Mumbai Indians. Tendulkar’s dismissal at duck disappointed the spectators but there was good relief for them with Sanath Jayasuriya hitting some huge sixes in the match. The team lost just two wickets and finished the match in 5.3 overs itself with 87 balls still remaining with them. Shaun Pollock was awarded the man of the match for his spell which got him 3 wickets off just 12 runs. The team now has the best run rate amongst all and have good morale to win the rest of their games too.
