The magic of the Kolkata Knight Riders has resumed it seems. With the presence of Shoaib in the match now, the team seems to have gained back its confidence even when he was not playing. The match against the Deccan Chargers was won by the Knight Riders by 23 runs today in Hyderabad.
Saurav Ganguly, skipper of the Kolkata team took charge of his team and his due share of runs that were required to get hold of the match. Ganguly came on to the field when the opener Butt was lost easily. He came in and with initial support from Chopra and then from Hussey, he could very well manage to get a great knock today. Ganguly scored 91 runs off just 57 balls. This was supported well by Hussey’s 29-ball knock of 57 runs. The target that was put on the board was of 205 runs for the Deccan Chargers to chase.
It was only Rao who was actually seen to strive to get victory for his team. However, his efforts were futile as he did not get any support. Also, he came in to the field a bit too late to affect the condition of the team to a great extent. Coming in at number six, he made 71 runs off 42 balls. Sharma was the player to score 33 runs off 24 balls after Rao’s score. The top order or the lower one, both could not play that well so as to earn a victory for their team. The team finished at a score of 181 runs and was 23 runs behind their opponents.
The Deccan Chargers are already pretty much out of the semi-finals now and not much competition is left for them. Ganguly with his pack is probably into it and Ganguly today was awarded the man of the match too. Double celebrations for the skipper it means!
