The match initially saw the Delhi Daredevils start the match with their batting in full throttle. Gautam Gambhir started it off very well with 40 runs coming off 28 balls. Sehwag was batting along with Dhawan when the whole heavenly drama started. It began to drizzle and the covers had to be called in. the score was 88 runs off 8 overs at loss of 1 wicket. After much delay the game was continued with the overs cut down to 11 overs and the Delhi team resumed. This time however, the wickets were lost pretty much regularly and the team ended up with 118 runs.
The Kings team started not on a very good note and the openers were dismissed on 2 and 4 runs. Yuvraj Singh then came in along with Jayawardene. The captain scored 23 runs before dismissal but Jayawardene continued with Pomersbach. It was only 8 overs that could be played and the team could score 94 runs when the rain started pouring in, heavily this time. By the D/L method, it was calculated that the Kings XI had won the match and it was just a six on the last ball by Jayawardene that got them this win. Otherwise the match would have been drawn and bowl out would have ensued.
With this great amount of luck, the Kings XI emerged victorious and Jayawardene was awarded the man of the match. Let us see what Delhi can do in their next IPL flick.
