The players of the Kings XI team of Punjab made another mark in IPL today. They defeated the Bangalore Royal Challengers by a massive margin of nine wickets and that too with 26 balls still remaining from the allotted twenty overs of the match. Shaun Marsh was awarded the man of the match for his stupendous batting performance.
The Bangalore team seems to have died out of the competition now. They are already lying on the bottom of the table with just 4 points and yet another defeat has struck them badly. The Bangalore team chose to bat first on winning the toss. The opener Arunkumar was dismissed on a score of 1 run. Kohli and Misbah however gave new hope to the team’s batting line up. But this too faded away quickly as both batsmen were dismissed at 21 runs each. Dravid too could not justify his disposition with the 29 runs that he made. Boucher was the last man to actually score in double figures and made 39 runs, the highest in the team when the innings ended with a target of 144 runs for the Kings XI Punjab.
The Kings XI team comfortably chased the total that was put up by the Bangalore Royal Challengers team. It was like cakewalk for them with the opener Marsh scoring runs very comfortably. James Hopes was dismissed for 27 runs off 30 balls in the seventh over but the initial kick required for a winning innings was well-provided for. Marsh went on to score 74 runs off the 71 balls that he played. The team was finished with the chase with nine wickets remaining and also 26 balls still not bowled. The team of the Kings XI has now reached the second spot with 12 points and has a fairly good chance of making it to the semi-finals.
