It was pretty much clear from the performance of the Delhi team that they were not especially prepared for the new man in the team. “Rawalpindi Express” Shoaib has proved once again that he can still win matches for his side. The Kolkata Knight Riders won the match against the Delhi Daredevils by 23 runs.
The team led by Saurav Ganguly won the toss and this Bengali tiger chose to bat first. The batting performance of the team did not seem to work very well with the great bowling attack by Delhi. Most of the players of the team could not play the game well and succumbed to the attack. Opener Salman Butt’s job however was commendable who scored 48 runs even when there was so much pressure around him. Lower down the order, Hussey held the position of the team’s batting by scoring 31 runs. The target that was set by the Kolkata Knight Riders was of 134 runs.
The Delhi team did not perform any well in batting than the opponent team. The complete top order was blown away with one gush of wind called Shoaib Akhtar. Before the fifth over was bowled, the first four wickets of the team were lost and the players were back in the stands. The rest of the bowlers of the team took charge then and the team was left in complete mess. Not much runs could be scored by the batsmen. The highest scorer in the team was Mishra with 31 runs. The team was completely bowled out in just 17.5 overs and could only make 110 runs.
Shoaib Akhtar was awarded man of the match for his great spell of 3 overs in which he hauled 4 wickets and gave away just 11 runs.
