IPL Match Reviews: Indian Premier League

Five-wicket win for Bangalore gets them seventh place

May 25
Place : Hyderabad

The jinx of losing at the home ground for the Deccan Chargers got them another defeat which was against the Bangalore Royal Challengers. The match was won by Bangalore by 5 wickets. The Deccan Chargers will now end up at the last place in the scores table of this season of the Indian Premier League.

The match today saw the Deccan Chargers start the match with a good opening. However, the team just had themselves to blame with the way they have themselves away to the opponents too easily and the match slipped out of their hands. The chase by the Bangalore team was also not very smooth as they kept losing wickets very regularly but somehow Akhil ensured that that target was achieved.

The Deccan batted first and the openers Adam Gilchrist and Gibbs played a very good innings. The captain made 46 runs off 37 balls and Gibbs scored 47 runs off 34 balls. However, the rest of the team failed badly and the next best scores were 26 by Rao and 17 by Sharma. No other player could reach double figures. the target set by the team was a modest 166 runs. Vinay Kumar of the Bangalore team hauled 3 wickets in his four over spell.

The Bangalore team however did not get the victory as a piece of cake. Jaffer, the opener got out on 5 runs which left Kallis playing alongside Misbah. These two players scored runs in thirties and were dismissed when it seemed like the team was stable now. A similar situation happened when Dravid and White were playing and reached the thirties mark. The situation seemed to go out of hand but Akhil helped getting victory for the team. Vinay Kumar was however the man of the match today.
