The last match between the Mumbai Indians and the Bangalore Royal Challengers in Bangalore ended up pretty easily in the hands of the Mumbai team. The team will now depart from the IPL as they have not made it to the semi-finals. The Mumbai Indians won by 9 wickets with 12 balls still remaining.
The rain affected the match by cutting it short to 18 overs. The Bangalore Challengers had to bat first as wished by the Mumbai team who won the toss. Today as well, the team struggled to get runs. Call it rain or lowered spirits which dampened the play from this team’s end. Boucher and Goswami opened the game and made 18 and 20 runs respectively. Misbah was dismissed on the first delivery on a duck. White then made 26 runs which was the highest individual score from this team. This was followed by the score of Dravid which was 23 runs. The team finished at 122 runs which was brought about by the pressure of the Mumbai bowlers specially, Dilhara who hauled 4 wickets against them.
The bowlers of the Bangalore team however left the opponents unfazed. There was more or less no effect on Sachin and Sanath who played a good innings. Jayasuriya was the only wicket lost on 54 runs off 37 balls whilst Sachin made 40 off 43 balls. Together these two made 96 runs off 69 balls. Uthappa got to make only 13 runs when the team got an easy victory. Dilhara Fernando was awarded the man of the match for his 4 wicket haul.
