After the Deccan Chargers ruled themselves out of the race of semi-finals of the Indian Premier League a day before, the Bangalore Royal Challengers too have done the same thing. After five consecutive defeats, the team is now out of the semi-finals for sure. Delhi, on the other hand, has acquired another victory which was very much needed by them. They won the match by 5 wickets with 10 balls still remaining.
The team of the Delhi Daredevils was able to get a strong hold on the batting line up as the opening was very good. Like it is said the world over, “well begun is half done”. Such was the case with Sehwag and Gambhir who opened the team batting well. However, after their dismissal, it was felt for some time that the team would not be able to cope up with it. This however was falsified when the middle order of the team held on to the pitch well and the target that was put forward by the Bangalore team of 154 runs was chased easily. Sehwag was the highest scorer in the team with 47 runs whereas Gautam Gambhir scored 39 off 31 balls.
In the Bangalore team as well, a couple of good performances were seen. The best was that of Goswami who made his debut today and scored 52 runs off 42 balls. Another performance worth comment was that of Misbah who scored 47 runs off 25 balls and the team reached to a modest score because of these two batsmen. McGrath and Maharoof from the Delhi team obtained 2 wickets each with the Bangalore team. Goswami, the debutant, was awarded the man of the match for his performance.
