IPL Match Reviews: Indian Premier League

Delhi lose by 105 runs, Rajasthan move to finals

May 30
Place : Mumbai

It was a clash of the top most team of the IPL score card, Rajasthan Royals with the team of Delhi Daredevils. Even though there is no predictability in T20 cricket, still one could somehow expect the Rajasthan team to win. However, the win would be with such a big margin was something one could not have anticipated. The Delhi team was defeated by a margin of 105 runs.

The only thing great about today’s match for the Delhi Daredevils was their winning the toss. They chose to field first. Rajasthan started to bat first. The opening of the team was average with Smith and Asnodkar starting off. Smith scored 25 runs before his dismissal which was followed by the quick dismissal of Tanvir on 5 runs. These two wickets loss made it seem like a difficult situation already. However, Asnodkar and Watson held strike and played well so as to get runs coming in for their team. Asnodkar was dismissed after 39 runs whereas Watson made 52 off 29 balls. Pathan also played a cameo and scored 45 runs off 21 balls. The team made a total score of 192 runs for the Delhi team to chase.

The Delhi team had a pitiful opening and that followed all through their innings. Sehwag was the first wicket lost on a score of 3 runs. This led to a string of wickets being lost in a flurry. The team saw the loss of 4 wickets at the score of 28 runs. Only Dilshan was the one who scored some runs but those 33 runs off 22 balls were not enough without any one else’s support. Gambhir was the next highest scorer with mere 11 runs and Karthik follows with 10 runs. Only 87 runs could be made by the team as the complete middle order and lower order of the team crashed.

Shane Watson was the man of the match for his batting performance and the team will now proceed to the final match of this season of IPL on Sunday.
