With Delhi winning the toss, the
Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first. They made a total of 176 runs for the Delhi team to chase. Jayasuriya and Tendulkar opened the innings for the Mumbai team. Sachin could score only 18 runs whereas Sanath went on to score 66 runs off 42 balls. Smith failed to do any wonder and was dismissed on 17 runs. Uthappa scored 46 runs off 23 balls and was the last batsmen to score some good runs. Mahesh from the Delhi team obtained 4 wickets off his 4 overs and gave away 36 runs.
Gambhir and Sehwag opened the game for
Delhi Daredevils. They both were however dismissed on 19 and 18 runs respectively. Dhawan then came in to score 27 runs off 29 balls. Tiwary playing along with him scored 36 runs. it was however Karthik who acted as a savior and made a 32-ball 56 runs that got the team victory today. This was one very important match-winning innings that came in at the right time, much to the relief of Delhi. The team is now on third spot but still not a sure place in the semis. If Chennai and Mumbai win all their matches then the spot for Delhi goes off.
