IPL Match Reviews: Indian Premier League

Delhi Annihilated out of IPL semi-finals, Royals win by 105-run margin

May 30
Place : Mumbai

The first of the two semi-finals between the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Daredevils saw the grilling of the latter team. The Rajasthan Royals, the team on top, saw to it that by no chance whatsoever were the Delhi Daredevils going to the finals. The team of Delhi was defeated by a big margin of 105 runs by the Rajasthan Royals. The winning team is now going to the finals with their opponents being decided tomorrow.

The start was a bit scratchy for the Rajasthan Royals started to bat first. The Delhi team had won the toss and chose to field first. Rajasthan lost their first two wickets a bit soon but that did not shake them in any way. Smith was dismissed on 25 runs off 21 balls which were followed by the dismissal of Tanvir at 5 runs. However, Asnodkar and Watson made sure that it was their way of playing and not their opponents. Watson scored 52 runs off 29 balls whereas Asnodkar managed 39 runs off 21 balls. Pathan as always was great with batting and made 45 runs. The team posed a target of 193 runs for Delhi to chase.

The Delhi team had nothing but the toss to be happy about in the whole match. They kept losing wickets very frequently. Four batsmen were lost by the time the team had made 28 runs in six overs. It was a really a shame for the batsmen of Delhi with the performance that they delivered today. Only three batsmen could reach double figures with the highest being 33 runs by Dilshan followed by 11 runs fro Gambhir and 10 runs from Karthik. The team could reach 87 runs before they were all out in the seventeenth over. Watson and Patel got three wickets each against the Delhi team.

Watson was the man of the match yet again. The Rajasthan team deserved well to go in to the finals. Tomorrow’s match will decide who they will play against, Punjab or Chennai.
