The match between the Deccan Chargers, who are out of the semi-final race, with the Kings XI who are currently at number two, was no dead match with the weaker side giving in easily. The Deccan team, instead gave a good fight to the Kings team and showed them they were still not down even though out. The victory came for the Kings by 6 wickets when they had just three balls left.
The Deccan Chargers showed a good batting side today. The opening of the team was good by Adam Gilchrist and Gibbs. They made 50 and 44 runs respectively and gave a sound base to the team score. This was the reason that the team did not come crashing down like before. After the dismissal of Gibbs in the twelfth over, Sharma came out in the field and he too made a half century. His dismissal was however an example of poor judgment when he missed a ball which was too straight and went into the wickets. Silva too made 23 runs. The total score made by the team was 175 runs.
Marsh and Sangakkara opened the game for the Kings XI team and gave a very good opening to the innings. Marsh scored 60 runs whereas Sangakkara made 50. These two batsmen were the ones to weave victory for the team as the middle order could not perform very well. Yuvraj, Pomersbach and Jayawardene made runs in the mid-tens. The target of 176 runs was achieved by the team in 19.3 overs with 6 wickets still in hand. Shawn Marsh was awarded the man of the match for his performance.
