The latter however could not make a very good mark in the game and was dismissed on 6 runs. Butt however stayed there on the field and scored the highest in the team a score of 73 runs off 54 balls. Ganguly, the skipper also was not able to perform and dismissed on two runs. Das was the second highest scorer in the team with 27 runs and with some small contributions from Shukla and Saha, the team made the final score. Makhaya Ntini hauled 4 wickets out of which three were obtained as a hat-trick for him.
The batting innings of the Chennai Super Kings started with the clouds already hovering in the skies, so that team tried best to get a good run rate. They had barely played 8 overs when it started to rain and the match was declared with Chennai Super Kings as winners by the D/L method. Fleming had scored 32 runs off 20 balls and Patel was there with 19 runs off 28 balls. Three runs made the difference for the Chennai Super Kings and got them this win in a great fashion
