After getting some good victories previously in the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings team has its batting weaknesses exposed now. They were defeated in a low-scorer match against the Bangalore Royal Challengers. After the innings break, no would had the slightest idea that the match would take such a turn. It was a rude shock for everyone who was watching the match. The Bangalore team won the match by 12 runs.
To a very good extent, the Bangalore team victory was inspired by the bowling of Anil Kumble. It was him who blew off the situation by attacking the openers who were making runs for the team comfortably. The team was on a good 60 runs without any losses. The situation however turned against them in no time. With the openers lost, the team seems to have lost their confidence and this played havoc on their batting. Wickets were being lost very frequently and the team could not get runs at their earlier pace. Loose shots caused them wickets and ultimately the match.
Initially, the Bangalore team was seen to play not very professionally. The batsmen seemed to be taking it lightly, now that they are out of the semi-finals for sure. Dravid however played well and made 47 runs off 39 balls. A total of 126 runs were achieved by the team. in spite of the low score, the Chennai team could not hold on for longer and lost the match. Anil Kumble was awarded the man of the match for his 3-wicket spell and more importantly, the breakthrough that he achieved by dismissing the openers.
