This day today has really shown some out-of-the-way cricket and experiences. With the Mumbai Indians faltering from their winning position in the earlier match, the Bangalore Royal Challengers were seen to be even more shocking with their win against the Chennai Super Kings. Chennai still have chance to get into the finals but with this performance, one can judge the weaknesses in their team.
The match was a low-scoring one today and the Bangalore team seemed like out of the game for most of the time. The team could just make 126 runs in the 20 overs. The openers could not do any wonders and got dismissed pretty early. Dravid made 47 runs and the next highest contribution was made Praveen Kumar who made 21 runs. the individual scores were not very big and the team seemed to be weak as in their previous matches.
The Chennai team openers were at a far superior position with 60 runs for no loss by the end of nine overs. Patel made 24 runs and Fleming scored 45 runs. The situation then slightly changed with 65 runs for 2 wickets and then 3 for 85 runs. After the wicket of Fleming was lost, there was utter confusion in the team and the batting seemed really shaky. Raina tried his best at 21 runs but what could one man do when there was no one else in the team to support. Runs almost stopped coming in. after the take of Kumble in the initial time; it was now Steyn who took charge. The middle and lower order of the team was completely knocked out with three going for ducks, players for 1 run each and one at four runs. The team just finished up at 112 runs and this was a complete shock for everyone present there. Anil Kumble was awarded the man of the match for his spell of 4 overs with 3 wickets at just 14 runs.
