Indian premier league players would include not only member of the national cricket squad but also some of the international players such as Glenn Grath, Stephen Fleming, Shoaib Akhtar amid others. The list includes some pre-allocated players such as Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar, and even Rahul Dravid who would play for their respective state teams.

Each team would comprise of 16 players as from India. However, the number of international that can be comprised in each is yet to be ascertained.  Whatever, be the reason for the origin of Indian Premier League, but the fact remains, it has been successful in attracting several big names from the glam and business industry who have managed to win the bids for teams that the players would be competing against.

The players after being auctioned for the specific teams would compete for the huge cash of US$ 3 million. The Indian Premier League players would unveil on behalf of different teams in the month of April 2008. The tournament based upon the well-known Twenty20 format would span for a period of 44 days, in which about 59 matches would be played. This is a much awaited tournament that is eyed by several cricket enthusiasts as well as players themselves.

Some of the international who have showed keen interest in IPL are inclusive of Nathan Bracken, Michael Clarke, Adam Gilchrist, Jason Gillespie, Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Brett Lee, Glenn McGrath, Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds, Shane Warne, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, Kamran Akmal, Umar Gul, Shoaib Malik, Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock, Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Prasanna Jayawardene, Farveez Maharoof, Muttiah Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara, Chaminda Vaas, Stephen Fleming, Brendon McCullum, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Mohammed Ashraful, Mashrafe Mortaza, and Tatenda Taibu.
